A Beaver and a Bald Eagle...

I am fortunate to have a friend and fellow blogger "Natural World" Through My Camera" share his local wildlife haunts. On this particular day a Beaver showed itself a couple times and I was able to get a few photos. The early morning hours often times doesn't allow for good photography. This particular morning the beaver showed up a little later than usual and I got a few pics. This has been a very good year for sighting Bald Eagles. Reasons could be many, but I always feel so lucky to see them and even more privileged to photograph them. This particular individual was several hundred yards away but I couldn't help myself in trying for a few good pics.

Just passing by...

Good day for a swim...

He's about to disappear...

A Bald Eagle maintains its perch...
Has something caught its eye...

Contemplates an exit...

Launches out of the perch...

Wings are spread and it banks to the left...

And... He flies above and to my left...

Dark-eyed Junco...

Downy Woodpecker...

Bald Eagle on a Deer Carcass

Today I happened upon a Bald Eagle dining on a deer carcass. The distance was not so favorable but the presentation was quite pleasing. He would tear off a piece and each time lift its head and look. This went on for several minutes. It was a good day.

Some Local Feathers and a Little Fur...

I was surprised by a Bald Eagle taking a perch a hundred yards or more from me several days ago. I always love seeing and photographing eagles. This day however gave me no sunny side opportunities. All my photos were eagle silhouettes. The little Brown Creeper finally stopped for a moment long enough for a couple clicks. The Canadian Geese lifted up and out of a pond and settled again a short distance away. The Downy Woodpecker was bouncing up and down and all about searching for a meal. The Fox Squirrel found himself a walnut. One of the cool mornings I was out, a sheet of thin ice decorated a local pond. A group of Starlings scratching for a few morsels.

A Bald Eagle... Poor lighting conditions, sorry...

A Brown Creeper... They sure don't sit still for very long.
