Belted Kingfisher, Canada Goose, and a Fox

Sometime a morning presents unexpected gifts. Of course I believe all Gods creatures present themselves on their time not mine. I am fortunate having a number areas within a short distance of my home that provides so many wildlife opportunities. Here you will see a Belted Kingfisher, for me, a bird that has always been quite elusive. Canada Geese are quite plentiful around here but catching them in a quick exit is exciting to me. The fox was actually walking on the shoulder of a country road, coming right toward me. I stopped the truck and waited for him to come by. Well... He came by but decided to drop down into the ditch and into the woods. I was still lucky enough to get a couple of shots.

Wild Turkeys... Toms Strutting Their Spring Time Stuff...

This is the season when male wild turkeys do what they can to get the attention of their female counterparts.  In this series of photos you will notice no females. I didn't hear any or see any, so maybe these guys were just practicing. Couldn't tell for sure but the show was entertaining.

Big chested and full tail feather fan, this guy is in full strut...

And here's the backside...

Bottoms up... Three Toms showing off...

Heads up...

Same guys, same tails...

This Tom seemed to be the dominant bird. He was always by himself and was larger than the rest.

No showmanship here...

This is a big mature bird...

Here he is strut'n' his stuff...

The backside fan...

There just has to be a female out there for him to be doing all of this...

Three gobblers...

A magnificent bird...
