The Beautiful Turkey Vulture

You really have to love these guys. Turkey Vultures ride thermals in the sky and use their keen sense of smell to find fresh carcasses. They are a consummate scavenger, cleaning up the countryside one bite of their sharply hooked bill at a time. The Vultures that you see here were cleaning up on a deer carcass before I interupted them.

They are very interesting birds. Your photographs are exceptional, Larry. Such great detail. You captured the feather patterns and colors beautifully.
