Another Day and A Gray Squirrel

I started out the day with a pasture dotted with Black Angus cattle. Nothing wild here, I just liked the setting, kind of calming. Today, another 40 degree January day, offered a very cooperative Gray Squirrel. He didn't seem to mind me photographing his activities. He got nervous once and left but was back within a couple minutes. My guess hunger was the easyer demon to deal with than the threat of me being there. While in the same area as the squirrel a Red-breasted Woodpecker, House Finch and Northern Cardinal were using the tree line as a food source and a place to rest.

Wonderful photographs! Looks like that Grey Squirrel can't get enough of the osage orange. The bird images are lovely as well as the scenic shot. Well done, Larry!

Again, great pictures Larry! I had no idea that squirrels would eat hedge-apples. We have a tree growing near the neighboring field and now I don't feel quite as sorry for those cute little squirrels knowing food is close when my feeders are empty.:-)

Hope you're doing well--Wasn't today just gorgeous?

Hey T. I think it's the hedge apples.

Shaun, cardinals are regulars around here.

Thank you Julie :)

Hi Kim, squirrels shred them apart, eat their fill and leave the leftovers for the birds.

Beautiful sharp shots. I love the catch of the squirrel eating the "brain." Also, my favorite bird, the Cardinal, is beautiful.
