A Pileated Woodpecker...

Many times I have heard the Pileated Woodpecker, tried to stalk them for a chance to get a photograph but rarely was successful. This day was different. As I'm walking on a hiking trail I have a pileated woodpecker land in a tree a short distance from me. Other than having to deal with the brush and sticks in the way  I consider having him coming to me was my chance opportunity.

Thanks for stopping by.

Larry, I looked at your post the first time at work today, and the doctor I work for and another coworker and I were in awe of your pictures, they really are amazing! Of course we have Pileated woodpeckers around here too, and they elude me to much to get great pictures like yours. I hear them often, so that'll be what I have to settle for, at least for now.

I hope you're doing well!

Fantastic photographs! The Pileated Woodpeckers on our property are so very elusive. I have yet to get a decent image. Yours are fabulous, Larry!
